Cannabidiol (CBD) is found in both hemp and cannaabis plants and is used as a phytocannabinoid (external source of CBD). CBD has been found helpful in treating a variety of disorders; inflammation, pain, GI issues, autoimmune disease, insomnia, anxiety, depression, etc. CBD naturally connects with the body's CB receptors in the brain and body. Everyone (all vertebral species) has CB1 and CB2 receptors which are part of the homeostasis system which in large part regulated by the Endo-Cannabinoid System or ECS (endo meaning inside the body). The ECS helps maintain balance especially when people endure both mental and physical stress. When CBD from plants – phytocannabinoids are ingested they act as messengers connecting with CB receptors and activate the cells to relieve pain, anxiety, depression, inflammation, etc. When the brain and body are undergoing excess stress it can be difficult to regulate homeostasis and the production of the internal CBD messengers is diminished which is one reason external sources of CBD can be beneficial in healing.
